HEALTH VISITORS
The Health Visitors for
Health Visitors are qualified nurses. We have further
specialist training in child health, health promotion and health education.
Health Visitors work as part of the Primary Health Care Team, working closely
with GPs, Practice Nurses, District Nurses, School Nurses, Midwives, Social
Workers and a variety of other services. We work with all age groups, but have
a particular expertise at child health and development.
The Health Visitor role includes:
1. Offering advice and support to all ages on health and
social issues.
2. Health Education/Support groups
3. Home visits
4. Support to families with children
5. Monitoring child health and development
6. Advice on immunization and vaccination
7. Child health clinics
8. Referral to other groups for further specialist help if
required
9. Child Protection Issues
10. Antenatal support / parentcraft
classes
11. Postnatal depression support
12. Public Health. Support local initiatives.
